Sacred Grace Ministries

History:

The idea of this ministry was birthed in the heart of its founder, Rev. Lucretia K. Middleton (pictured below). In the spring of 2005 the Holy Spirit moved me to begin taking the initial steps toward making this dream a reality. For the past decade I have served as an Assistant Pastor of Faith Community Church, an inner city congregation in Greensboro, North Carolina. In that capacity, one is frequently exposed to the economically disadvantaged conditions of many families in the churches of the community.

It is not the intention of Sacred Grace Ministries to provide food nor shelter. Other local organizations do that quite adequately. What we do see missing is an opportunity for many High School students to pursue the higher educational opportunities that other more affluent students have simply because they lack the money to do so. The idea of loans often does not appeal to many students for fear of starting out their lives in debt.

The initial goal of this ministry is to spiritually encourage and financially assist poor students to attend college as a means of breaking the cycle of poverty in their families. Thus, the birth of Sacred Grace Ministries.

Under the careful guidance of the Holy Spirit and a little help from my friends, Patsey Drew, Jacquelyn Pressley, and Ayodele Johnson we were able to provide four scholarships during our first year of existence. The second year we provided two more students with financial assistance. Within the first three years a total of eight students had received the blessing in the form of a scholarship from Sacred Grace Ministries.

As with many small non-profits, fund raising has been our biggest challenge. Most supportive of the ministry have been those contributors who have consistently mailed in their donations. We pledge to always use these donations solely for the purpose of helping young people to succeed. We pay no salaries, all the work is done by volunteers. Sacred Grace is a 501(c)3 non-profit, tax deductible organization. If you wish to donate, visit our contribute page.
